Founded by Raymond Buckland in 1973 in the U.S., and is now practiced worldwide. Seax-Wica has no central authority. "The Tree: The complete book of Saxon Witchcraft" has played an important part in the spread/development of Seax-Wica. It does not pretend to be a continuation of the original Saxon religion (See page 25: Buckland's complete book of witchcraft). All rituals are published and fully available to the seeker. Seax-Wica has a democratic organisation that "precludes ego trips and power plays by coven leaders", it is both coven based and solitary, one can self-initiate or enter a coven - one can self-initiate, as many say "Who initiated the first Witch?" Covens are led by a priest and priestess elected by coven members for a year-and-a-day at a time. Each group or practitioner can individually decide whether to work robed or skyclad. The two most notably used deities within this tradition are Woden and Freya. The God rules the winter and Goddess the Summer. Rituals are on a solar cycle, with moon rites also. Also, tools are a little differently used, for example, the Athame (know as a Seax within this tradition) is used for many tasks instead of exclusively for ritual use. Other than the dedication rite, there is no degree or initiation system. Sources: Wicca Revealed - Magicka School, Lesson one Complete book of witchcraft, Raymond Buckland Seax Wica article by Daven
